What We Do All Day
Dishes
We have been doing dishes by hand so long that we forgot that
dishwashers existed... Our friends Brian & Jan Balcombe had to
reintroduce us to this unique piece of equipment last year at their home
on Chemong Lake outside of Peterborough Ontario |
Water We
can last for about 3 weeks on our water storage capacity, but sooner or
later you have to find a tap, hook up your hose and move the H20
to our boat. We used to move it in jerry jugs at 5 gal a shot. This
bladder is 60 gal and I hook it up to a 12Vpump. Much easier!!!! |
Laundry
Yes we do are laundry in a bucket. It can cost $10 US a load and this
can really add up, so we use a bucket and a toilet plunger as an
agitator. This is a fun job and we fight over who is going to do it.... |
Sewing
Julie does all the sewing on board including courtesy flags for all the
countries we visit. We have 2 sewing machines and we can do most of our
own canvas & sail repair. Julie has made me shirts, and herself
dresses from scratch.... |
Cleaning
Julie is cleaning the life lines again, and this is a big job. All the
stainless out here also rusts, but if you keep at it it can be kept as
good as new as well...... |
Propane
John off "Second Chance" and Ron off "Sunshine"
cart and carry propane 1/4 mile to our dingys. We then dinghied about 5
miles to our boats in calm water inside the reef in Tahiti. This was a
1/2 day job. |
Varnishing Because you live
full time on the boat things like revarnishing become a major
maintenance headache. If you don't stay on top of it it goes to hell... |
Upgrades Here I am up
the mast drilling 104 holes to attach 24' of external sail track so we
can hoist our storm tri-sail. We may need this for the weather ahead.
This was a 2 day job. |
