The island of Guanaja is located about 20 miles from the east end of Roatan and can only be reached by private boat or small private plane. Because it is so remote, Guanaja has kept its beauty both on land and underwater, and its people are super friendly. It is the highest of the Bay Islands and the scenery is spectacular.

It is famous for its amazing town of Bonacca – less than 100 acres housing the majority of the island’s population of 3000. Houses on stilts are connected by boardwalks in an amazing ‘waterworld-like’ community complete with police force, schools, shops and restaurants. It is the coolest village you will ever see.

No trip to Guanaja is complete without a trip to beautiful Josh's Cay - a visit to Graham's Place with all his critters and quaffing back a few ice cold beers or a meal at his restaurant.

Weather permitting, we can visit the outstanding Michael’s Rock on the north side of the island, with its beautiful beach, snorkeling and access to a fabulous waterfall.

We can arrange diving on the truly untouched reef surrounding Guanaja.

And Guanaja is famous for its bonefishing. The flats are protected and carefully managed by the local guides. They are never overfished. We can make all the arrangements for a great fishing experience for you.

Warning – once you go to Guanaja, you will wish you could stay forever!

Beacase the wind here prevails from the east, Guanaja can be quite a 'bash' to get to. Understand that the weather has to be right to get to this destination. Allow a full 8 hours from time of departure from Roatan, to arrival at anchor in Guanaja. Coming back is faster (usually).

If we get 'out there' and find out that the weather forecast was incorrect, then our itinerary changes. We re-route to the eastern ports of Roatan - Port Royal, Old Port Royal, Helene and Barbaretta/Pigeon Cays where there is still plenty to do and see.

Everyone who has come for a single overnighter to Guanaja has said 'I wish I had come for two nights".
